This is a letter to celebrate my 20th birthday, to acknowledge one growing stage to another, from teenager to my early twenties. I am turning 20 today and I wanted to take this opportunity to reminisce on what I have learned through my teen years and to advise myself. So here goes…
I know the number itself isn’t a big deal but I want to make it know to myself that yes, I am growing up, learning and becoming more mature and to me it is important.
I am turning 20 today and I wanted to take this opportunity to reminisce on what I have learned through my teen years and to advise myself. So here goes…
Firstly, I’d like to say happy birthday to you. Today is your special day so enjoy it. Remember to thank God and show gratitude for this day. Thank him for being here today and thank him for everything his provided for you.
I know you’re probably finding adulting to be hard but suck it up because from this day forward you’re an adult. Always remember to take responsibility for your actions and whenever you make mistakes learn from them. After all, mistakes mean you’re trying your best. And your best plus 100% effort is all I ask of you. When you decide to do something do it wholeheartedly and give it your all.
I know you’re growing up and trying to be more independent, which is good but don’t forget to spend more time with family and friends. Don’t take them for granted.
You’ve made good friends on your journey to adulthood. They’ve all in a way taught you something.
Being an adult means learning to stand on your own two feet. Always be kind to people but ever let yourself be pushed around. There’s a difference between being kind and being a pushover.
On a closing note always remember what you have and show gratitude for it. Don’t ever forget to count your blessings.
This is all the advice I have for you on this special day, good luck with everything.
